An Air New Zealand (NZ) Boeing 737-300 originating from Wellington was forced to make an emergency landing at New Zealand’s Ohakea Air Force Base Thursday following an electrical fire in the cockpit.
NZ flight 476 from Wellington to Auckland was about 20 min. into the flight when pilots diverted to Ohakea Air Force Base, located 22 km. west of Palmerston North. The crew had to abort the first landing as they were unsure the landing gear had locked.
